Chicken Meat Prices Rise, Traders in Kudus Are Reluctant to Sell

Siaran Utama. Approaching the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the prices of basic necessities such as cut chicken began to surge quite high since the last two weeks. Chicken prices rose to Rp. 38,000 / kg from Rp. 30,000 / kg.

According to the chicken meat trader Arina (38), currently the price of chicken reaches Rp. 38,000 per kg. Prices have risen since the last two weeks. "The price goes up to Rp. 38,000 per kg at Bitingan Market," Arina told reporters at the Bitingan Kudus Market on Monday (12/24/2018).

With the increase in the price of chicken meat, they are worried that it will impact their income, due to the lack of buyers. Like now, there are some chicken meat traders who intentionally don't sell.

"Yes, it was intentionally not selling because if it were sold later, there would be customers who did not believe, how come it was even that price. The price of IDR 38 thousand per kg was very high," he explained further.

Sulastri (53) a chicken meat buyer admitted he objected to the rising price of chicken meat. Because at such a price, buyers are overwhelmed.

"Buy the chicken, you want it to go down, don't get it high, and the little people don't have to go up, because they really object, because it's too expensive," he said.

He is a factory worker with not much income, obviously the price of chicken is currently very expensive. "The success is stable, small people are like that. Workers at factories like me are expensive," he added.

Apriliyanti Rahayu, another chicken meat buyer admitted, she must continue to buy chicken meat, considering that it is a necessity.

"This is buying chicken (meat) as well as claws, the current price is indeed expensive, if possible, do not soar. If possible, it can be lowered again. Yes, maybe because of the needs, so I still have to buy," he said
