After the Tsunami was struck, Labuan Banten was flooded

Pojok Fakta. Labuan Subdistrict, Pandeglang Regency, Banten was flooded since Wednesday (12/26) morning. Water floods the settlements and highways of Kalang Anyar Village.

Wednesday afternoon the intersection that connects Carita and Labuan is flooded by about 50 centimeters of water.

As a result, traffic is congested. Even the road to Labuan Market is paralyzed because the water level reaches more than 1 meter. In some settlements, water pooled up to the roof of the house.

Four-wheeled vehicles did not encounter many problems crossing the intersection, only had to pass alternately. Problems come when two-wheeled vehicles pass. Some motorbikes broke down in the middle of the road because the engine was submerged.

A resident of Labuan, Pulung Suradi, said the water had started to rise since 03.00 WIB. Then in the morning, around 07.00 WIB, water soaked the streets and settlements.

Pulung said that this severe flood was the first time this had happened in Kalang Anyar. Usually heavy rains only cause inundation.

"This is worse, usually just a small puddle. Maybe you meet pairs of seawater and rainwater from the mountain, you will find it here very fast," Pulung said when met.

At present the Kalang Anyar residents are displaced in refugee camps because their occupancy is inundated and electricity is cut off. In the morning to evening, they returned home to just check their occupancy.

Another resident, Desan, said the flood this time was aggravated by the tsunami a few days ago.

"The remnants of the material, the garbage that was carried yesterday was clogging, so the water was flooded," Desan said.

The lane problem, Desan said that the vehicle from Carita could still access the road to Labuan by spinning.

Drivers can go through alternative routes Caringin-Ciruang-Jiput. Travel time will increase by one hour via the alternative route.

Previously, the tsunami in the Sunda Strait hit Banten and Lampung on Saturday (12/22). About 16 thousand people were displaced and 429 died.
